Sew Awareness Quilt Festival

Textile artist and BerninaRSA Ambassador Veronika Olivier will be presenting THREE full-day workshops in the Bernina Studio during the festival. Best of all, participants will work on superior Bernina sewing machines and accessories, with no need to bring their own machines.
Portrait in Pieces
Inspired by Gustav Klimt, this striking mixed media portrait explores appliqué, decorative built-in stitches, metallic threads and free-motion embroidery to create a richly textured artwork filled with pattern, colour and detail.
Moonlight Meander
Transform recycled denim and assorted fibres into a magical 3D night garden. Learn creative techniques using a variety of presser feet to create dimensional flowers, foliage and textures enhanced with thread painting, layering and shimmering highlights.
Gentle Departure
Create a delicate butterfly artwork using free-motion embroidery on transparent netting. Veronika’s specially designed templates make the technique accessible to all skill levels, resulting in a beautiful framed piece that appears to float magically in mid-air.

My collaboration with PNA has grown into a rewarding partnership built on a shared passion for creativity, learning, and inspiring others. As a PNA Brand Ambassador, presenter, and workshop facilitator, I have had the opportunity to teach hundreds of creative enthusiasts across South Africa through demonstrations, workshops, events, and special projects.
One of the highlights of this partnership was presenting workshops at The Great PNA Create during Hobby-X, where I taught participants over three days. These sessions allowed me to share practical techniques, encourage creative confidence, and demonstrate how everyday art and craft materials can be transformed into meaningful works of art.
Working with PNA has enabled me to connect with a diverse creative community while showcasing innovative products, exploring new artistic possibilities, and helping makers of all skill levels discover the joy of creating. Together, we continue to promote creativity, lifelong learning, and the belief that everyone has the ability to make something beautiful.
